Manchester City's treble-winning coach Pep Guardiola is among the finalists for The Best FIFA men's coach award, as announced on Wednesday.
Guardiola is a strong favourite following City's triumph in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles last season.
In the men's category, Guardiola shares the limelight with Simone Inzaghi, who guided Inter Milan to the Champions League final and secured the Coppa Italia.
The third finalist is Luciano Spalletti, responsible for ending Napoli's 33-year Scudetto drought by securing the Serie A title with five games to spare.
On the other hand, England women's manager Sarina Wiegman is among the finalist for The Best FIFA women's woach awards. Wiegman, a three-time winner, currently holds the award.
Having clinched the Euros, Wiegman steered England to another major final at this summer's Women's World Cup, where they were defeated by Spain.
Emma Hayes, the coach of Chelsea, is also in contention after a successful season, clinching the Women's Super League and the FA Cup. Hayes will depart Chelsea in May to assume the role of head coach for the United States women's national team.
Jonatan Giraldez, who guided Barcelona's women's team to the league title with just one loss all season and secured their second Champions League crown, is the third candidate.
The Best FIFA Football Awards™ 2023, celebrating the exceptional individuals in the world's most popular sport, will be held on 15th January 2024 in London.
The nominees for The Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Men’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, The FIFA Puskás Award and The FIFA Fan Award were revealed in September 2023.
From these lists, an international jury consisting of four groups: national team coaches, national team captains, football journalists, and fans who voted on FIFA’s official website, will select three finalists in most categories. Over one million fan votes worldwide were recorded.
